MERIDEN — Two men have been charged after police reportedly seized two firearms and about five ounces of marijuana from a Crown Street home.
Rayen Williams, 27, of 124 Crown St., was charged Friday with theft of a firearm, narcotics possession, possession with intent to sell and possession within 1,500 feet of a daycare. Tyzhan Leatherwood, 22, of 124 Crown St., was charged with interfering with a search warrant, interfering with police and assault on a police officer.
Members of the police department’s Crime Suppression Unit, SWAT and patrol officers served a search warrant at 124 Crown St. around 6 a.m. Friday, according to a police report. Officers found Leatherwood and Williams in the home.
Leatherwood reportedly fought with police while they were searching and was treated for injuries, the report said. Officers found two firearms, one which was reported stolen, and a high-capacity magazine in Williams’ bedroom
Officers also found about five ounces of marijuana, half a gram of cocaine, a digital scale and about $1,800 in cash, the report said.
Williams and Leatherwood were arraigned in Meriden Superior Court on Monday. Williams’ bond was set at $200,000 and he is due back in court on April 12. Leatherwood’s bond was set at $35,000 and he is due back in court on April 23.
