MERIDEN — Police are investigating after a man walked into a gas station on Old Colony Road and fired a gun on Friday afternoon.

About 4:15 p.m., a man walked into the Colony Market, a convenience store attached to the gas station, and told the clerk to “get down,” according to a store employee  who declined to give his name.

The employee was in the back room when he heard the man fire one shot into the ceiling and run out of the store. Only one shot was fired and no one was harmed, the employee said. The Colony Market and gas station remained open. Several police cars surrounded the building following the incident.

Police said they are still investigating. Check back for updates.
