MERIDEN — State police are investigating after a student at Wilcox Technical High School reportedly used a racial slur in an incident with another student that also “involved a knife,” according to a spokesman for the state board of education.
The incident was reported Friday near the end of the school day, state board of education spokesman Peter Yazbak said. A student was reportedly called a racial slur and “a knife was involved,” Yazbak said on Tuesday.
No injuries were reported and the school followed proper protocol, Yazbak said. State police are investigating. Because the technical high school is under the state department of education, the school resource officer is a state police trooper.
The students involved have been the subject of school disciplinary actions, but he could not elaborate, Yazbak stated.
