MERIDEN — Twenty years ago this month workers put the finishing touches on MidState Medical Center, ShopRite operated under new management in Townline Square and the Rock ‘n’ Roll Cafe offered live music and dancing at Meriden Square.

Popular educator and union president Tom Bruenn retired from teaching while Maloney and Platt students performed “42nd Street” and “Our Town” respectively.

Tragically, a March 28 gas explosion leveled a home on Lima Street killing the owner.
