MERIDEN — Volunteers visited the Women and Families Center Thursday to clean rooms as part of the United Way Day of Caring.
The Marlin Company was assigned to work at the Women and Families Center, 169 Colony St. Eight volunteers from the Wallingford company swept floors, picked up garbage and wiped down and disinfected surfaces.
United Way of Meriden and Wallingford representative and former executive director Jim Ieronimo said companies volunteered at various agencies.
“It’s probably the best way for an agency to become visible to their corporate partners,” Ieronimo said.
Diana Minelli, human resources director, said The Marlin Company has been donating money and time to United Way for more than a decade.
“We tell (United Way) what we can do and they pair us with an agency that needs help,” Minelli said.
Minelli said that in previous years, volunteers from the company have painted, cleaned, and done yard work. She said volunteers helped clean rooms quickly and efficiently on Thursday.
“Everybody had a chore and we kind of did it in a very organized manner,” Minelli said. “And here we are.”
