Water restored, crews clear Bee Street in Meriden after Wednesday water main break

MERIDEN — Water servic was restored to a section of Bee Street early Thursday morning following a water main break Wednesday.

Director of public utilities Dennis Waz said a section of the road was also damaged as a result of the break.

Police responded to the area of 390 Bee St. on Wednesday about 3 p.m. for a report of water rising from the road. Waz said an 11-foot section of a 12-inch pipe in the area split.

Waz said the Extended Stay America Hotel, the Flats at 390 apartments and about 30 area houses were without water while the repairs were being made. Crews worked through the night, repaired the pipe, and restored water to the residences affected at about 5 a.m.

The damaged section of Bee Street was also repaired. Waz expects that the road would be repaved in the spring.
