Kitchen fire on Colony Street in Meriden extinguished by sprinklers

MERIDEN — Emergency crews are responding to a kitchen fire put out by the building’s sprinklers on Colony Street. 

Calls for a fire alarm sounding came in around 7 p.m. at 24 Colony St. When firefighters arrived on scene, the kitchen fire had been extinguished by sprinklers. The Meriden Housing Authority was called to the scene for a “significant amount of water” reported in the building. 

Additional information was not immediately available.
