MERIDEN — Savers thrift store on Chamberlain Highway is closing its doors for good.
A sign posted at the store, 495 Chamberlain Highway, says it will close permanently Saturday. A 50 percent off liquidation sale continues today.
A store manager wasn’t available to comment Thursday.
Other Savers locations in Connecticut will remain open, the sign said. Those locations include: Savers Newington, 3137 Berlin Turnpike; Savers Bristol, 657 Farmington Ave; Savers Manchester, 432-D Buckland Hills Drive; Savers Orange, 130 Boston Post Road; Savers Brookfield, 99 Federal Road.
The Savers in Meriden opened in 2010, selling secondhand clothing, footwear, furniture, books and household items. The secondhand retail chain has more than 300 locations nationally.
Economic Development Director Joe Feest said he contacted the store about four months ago after hearing it was closing. He was told the closing was a corporate decision.
