Pipes burst at two Meriden schools

MERIDEN — Firefighters responded to burst sprinkler pipes at two elementary schools Monday afternoon.

Crews were dispatched around noon to John Barry School, 124 Columbia St., for reports of flooding in the cafeteria.

Fire officials said a ceiling sprinkler pipe had burst.

Crews then were dispatched around 1:15 p.m. to Hanover School, 208 Main St., for another burst sprinkler pipe, this one affecting the kindergarten area.
