MERIDEN — Police say arrest warrants are pending in connection with an incident that ended on Interstate 84 Monday night.
The incident started about 6:15 p.m. at the Westfield Meriden Mall when city police attempted to stop a suspect vehicle, said Sgt. Darrin McKay, a police spokesman. When the vehicle did not stop, officers deflated at least one tire with stop sticks.
The vehicle continued onto Interstate 691 west and then onto I-84 east, McKay said. The driver eventually lost control near Exit 30. The driver and a passenger fled on foot. One of the suspects was found. His identity has not been released.
State police and Southington police assisted in the search, McKay said.
The suspect initially taken into custody is no longer being held, Sgt. Christopher Fry said. Members of the crime suppression unit initially tried to stop the vehicle while conducting surveillance in the area, Fry said. Fry said he couldn’t comment further on the case.
