MERIDEN — A car on a tow truck caught fire on Interstate 91 N by the exit 16 off ramp this afternoon.

State police said the call came in about 2:12 p.m. A car on the back of a tow truck caught fire, but the driver of the truck was able to free himself from the truck before the car “blew up in flames,” state police said. The incident happened on the off ramp of exit 16 on I-91 N.
