The North Haven Police Department is celebrating the 75th anniversary of its establishment and the North Haven Historical Society and Museums is honoring its service.
Officer Ted Stockmon and Kathy Prentiss, historical society volunteers, have spent the last month building displays at the Cultural Center and the North Haven Memorial Library to commemorate the anniversary.
Included in the displays are vintage law enforcement equipment, uniforms and memorabilia depicting how the force has evolved as the town's needs have changed.
The Cultural Center is scheduled to be open Tuesdays and Thursdays, 2 to 5 p.m. The library display can be seen during regular hours.
As a highlight of the anniversary, the North Haven Historical Society and Museums plan a talk, presented by Officer Stockmon, on Saturday, June 9, about the history of the police department. The program is planned in the Cultural Center.
