North Haven Sons and Daughters of Italy Lodge 2805 announced the co-recipients of its 2019 Distinguished Citizens Award, Patricia Buonpane and Carol Heins.

The lodge annually honors someone who has achieved success in their professional life, while maintaining a strong commitment to family and public service.

Buonpane has been a part of the North Haven community her entire life. Her volunteerism started while her children were in the North Haven school system, being active in the PTA.

Later she became involved in the North Haven Land Trust, North Haven Historical Society and the North Haven Education Foundation. She was the originator of the inaugural North Haven All-Class Reunion, held in 2005.

Heins is the owner of Carol’s Creations, a fashion boutique. She started her business designing jewelry in 1985 and opened her first boutique in North Branford. As the business grew, she moved to North Haven.

Heins parlays her business for charitable giving in several ways. She often uses her fashions, and her staff as models, for various fashion shows throughout the area.

Buonpane and Heins will be celebrated at the 2019 Distinguished Citizens Award Dinner on Saturday, March 9, at Il Monticello Banquet Facility, 577 South Broad St., Meriden. For more information contact Gail at 203-494-1820 or gail.norup@yale.edu.
