NORTH HAVEN — This voter guide profiles candidates running for police commissioner and fire commissioner. Previous guides introduced candidates for Board of Selectman, Board of Education and other town offices. Contact the Registrar of Voters for information on polling places.
The Republican and Democratic town committees, the office of the town clerk and the office of the registrar provided the information.
Police commissioners are elected to a four-year term. All three candidates are incumbents.
David J. Monz (R) serves as vice chairman of the commission. He’s a lawyer and partner at Updike, Kelly and Spellacy, PC.
He’s a former chairman of the Citizen Advisory Panel at the Upjohn site, former volunteer environmental coordinator and former member of the Inland and Wetlands Commission.
Lawrence Lazaroff (R) is the manager of Arnold’s Jewelers and former member of the Conservation Commission.
Alden Mead (D) is a former faculty member of the Yale Medical School, and still holds a part-time position as Department of Ophthalmology assistant clinical professor. He also has worked as director of ORBIS International, a nonprofit NGO, and CEO of the Eye Center of Southern Connecticut. He teaches courses at Quinnipiac University.
Fire commissioners are elected to a four-year term. All three candidates are incumbents.
Pasquale F. Nuzzolillo (R) serves as chairman of the commission. He’s the managing owner of Diversified Vending and has worked in the fields of health care and life insurance, He’s also active several civic organizations.
Mike Zuccarelli (R) has served on the fire commission since 2005. He’s a Vietnam veteran, and a retired juvenile probation officer and probation department supervisor.
Joseph A. Cappucci (D) also is running.
