NORTH HAVEN — Authorities continue to investigate the death of a 7-week-old infant.
Police responded to a home on Fortune Drive early Friday afternoon for a report of an infant that was not breathing, according to police spokesman Capt. Kevin Glenn. The infant was taken to Yale-New Haven Hospital and pronounced dead shortly after 3 p.m.
Police learned the infant was home with the father, and the mother arrived home to find that the child was not breathing, Glenn said. Police are working with the state’s attorney’s office and the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner to determine what led to the infant’s death.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with the family who are mourning the loss of this 7-week-old infant,” Glenn said in a statement.
