NORTH HAVEN — A new restaurant may open soon in the former Boston Market location.
First selectman Michael Freda said he is currently talking to a Fairfield restaurant that is considering opening a new branch in the building at 135 Washington Ave. (Route 5).
While he could not name the potential tenant, he said it would be something “totally new and unique” to the community. He added that other restaurants are interested.
“There are three different companies looking at it,” he said. “I have a certain segment of restaurants I’d like to see there, though I can’t divulge who it may be.”
Boston Market closed on July 7.
According to Michael Ciaburri, president of private lending company Worth Avenue Capital, a loan was recently made to improve the property.
“There is going to be tremendous improvement... The town is going to be very pleased,” said Ciaburri. “We are working with two or three names right now. They are much stronger companies than Boston Market.”
Ciaburri said that he is “hopeful” that the building’s lease will be signed by the end of the summer.
