Police close streets for 5K road race Sunday

NORTH HAVEN — Police have closed the following streets for the Tessa Marie Memorial 5K: Bailey Road between Elm Street and Maple Avenue, Pool Road between Maple Avenue and South Avenue, Laydon Avenue between Maple Avenue and Pequot Avenue.

In addition, the 5K course will extend into the “grove” area on the following roads: Tennyson Avenue, Shaw Drive, Virginia Road, South Avenue.

These roads in the “grove” area will not be closed, however residents should be aware that participants will be using these roads during the race and extra caution should be used when driving, police said.

Maple Avenue will be open to northbound and southbound traffic. Police and fire officials will be present at all major intersections to assist participants and motor vehicle traffic.

The race will begin and end at the North Haven High School, 221 Elm St.

Police anticipate the roads will reopen around 10:30 a.m.
