North Haven Middle School students Nicole Ortiz and Billy Lipinski were recognized as Scholar Leaders by the Connecticut Association of Schools.
A June 3 banquet held at the Aqua Turf recognized middle school student leaders who uphold scholarship, are resourceful, exemplify and inspire positive behavior, and possess outstanding personal qualities of character and integrity.
These students distinguished themselves both in school and in the community.
Congratulations to Ortiz and Lipinski, both eighth graders.
The other nominees from North Haven Middle School included Tyler Russo, Thien Nguyen, Mikayla Rapuano and Kaitlyn Falasco.
NHMS principal Dr. Phil Piazza and school counselor Anthony Giamattei were on hand to watch Ortiz and Lipinski receive their awards. Each student was also able to invite a teacher who has impacted them in a positive way. Ortiz invited Ralph Iadorola (Music) and Lipinksi invited Mary Ierardi (World Language).
