NORTH HAVEN — North Haven High School beat Amity Regional High School Monday night in the NIKH Bowl powder puff game. The final score was 40-16.
“We set out to keep the streak and we did,” said North Haven coach Raymond Degnan
North Haven’s Courtney Babbidge scored two touchdowns, including a 92-yard run in the second quarter. Kylie Brandt, Kate Tullo and Angela Sanzari each added a touchdown for the victors.
Sanzari also kicked all five extra points.
Morgan Sullivan had 12 tackles and three sacks to highlight the North Haven defense. Briana Ferriola, Kyla DelVecchio and Claire Fresher also turned in solid D.
Degnan said although the final score made it seem like the game was a one-sided affair, Amity played well and no one was sure of the outcome until the final minutes.
“I am very thankful to have such a wonderful opportunity to work with the North Haven High School senior girls,” he said Tuesday. “They are a group filled with charisma and passion determined to continue to be positive role models in the classroom, on the athletic fields and in the community. Our continued success in the NIKH Bowl is no coincidence.”
The annual flag football game at Vanacore Field drew hundreds of spectators, including dozens of student supporters waving signs and shouting support from the stands.
