NORTH HAVEN — The town Community Services Department signed up 67 families for its Thanksgiving food distribution program.
Kim Bracale, Community Services Department senior clerk, said that’s more than last year but still about average.
On Tuesday, families shopped the donations, which included all the traditional Thanksgiving fare plus a fresh pie, donated by the North Haven Fire Department.
The fire department also ran food drive at local grocery stores last weekend, donating “a whole room full of food,” Bracale said.
”The community really came together,” she said.
Some leftover donations will be added to the food pantry, which residents can shop once a month, and other items will be saved for Christmas food distribution.
