North Branford to receive North Haven’s old police consoles

The town is planning to give the police department’s old dispatch console furniture to the North Branford Fire Department in an in-kind service exchange.

The Board of Selectmen approved the transaction Thursday.

The consoles were purchased for about $30,000 in 2014 and used in the police department’s communication center.

Because of design and space issues in the police building renovations, the consoles are no longer usable and not sought after on the open market, since they’re only useful in 911 call centers.

North Branford will remove the consoles at no cost to North Haven.

First Selectman Michael Freda said the town often cooperates with other municipalities with in-kind services and support of this nature.
