The North Haven Fire Department held a small gathering Thursday morning, Jan. 31 to thank more than 20 donors for their contributions of over $40,000, which allowed the department to acquire a brand new drone, off-road utility vehicle and trailer.
Board of Fire Commissioners member Peter Criscuolo led the fundraising effort, but said it was only possible with great teamwork from donors and town officials.
Fire Chief Paul Januszewski said this new equipment puts the department in a position of setting the standard for other fire companies around the state.
“We have really revolutionized our rescue operations here. We can find somebody from the air and get them on the ground, and that’s something that’s very unique to the fire service, especially in this area,” Januszewski said.
Some of the donors included Ulbrich Stainless Steels and Special Metals, Inc., Sims Metal Management, North Haven Funeral Home, Hard Hat Cafe and JFA Management.
