PARC walkathon, chili festival coming to Norton Park

Record-Journal

PARC has scheduled its 18th walkathon for Saturday, Oct. 6 at Norton Park. To honor Danny Coughlin, an original PARC member from when the non-profit was founded 61 years ago, the annual fundraiser is being renamed the Helen & Danny Coughlin Annual Memorial Walk.

Helen Coughlin, Danny’s mother, was one of the founders of PARC, which provides family centered services for people with developmental disabilities, including healthy living activities, life skills, regular programming and community inclusion.

Walk registration begins at 9 a.m. with opening ceremonies at 10, followed by the walk. The event includes food, music, raffles and a chili festival. For a donation, people are welcome to sample and cast ballots for their favorite chili. The chili festival is free to enter.

PARC is also collecting non-perishable food items for Plainville Community Food Pantry.
