PLAINVILLE — A New Britain man faces charges of operating an illegal automotive repair shop following an investigation by local police.

Rafael Delgado, 51, of New Britain, was charged Thursday with operating a motor vehicle repair business without a license, according to police.

Police received complaints of alleged fraud at Totally RAD Creations, 143 Whiting St. An investigation determined the business was not licensed through either the state Department of Motor Vehicles or the town, police said.

Police are continuing to investigate the complaints of fraud.

Delgado was released on a promise to appear and is scheduled to appear in Bristol Superior Court on Oct. 22.
