State police: Plainville man charged with DUI after traveling wrong way on I-84

PLAINVILLE — A local man faces charges after state police said he was intoxicated when he drove the wrong way on Interstate 84 early Monday morning.

Daniel Vice, 32, of 192 Westwood Ave., was charged with driving the wrong way on a divided highway, operating under the influence, reckless endangerment, and improper entry or exit of a controlled access highway. He was released on $5,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in Hartford Superior Court on Feb. 26.

On Monday morning about 1 a.m., state police received a report of a driver traveling east on I-84 west near exit 33. Troopers stopped the car near exit 39.

State police said the driver, later identified Vice, showed signs that he was intoxicated. He failed field sobriety tests and was taken into custody.
