PLAINVILLE — A local woman pleaded guilty Wednesday to running over another woman with a car in 2017.

Justine Cusick, 36, of 92 W. Main St., pleaded guilty to second-degree manslaughter in New Britain Superior Court. She is scheduled to be sentenced on March 28.

Cusick was charged in 2017 with second-degree manslaughter, misconduct with a motor vehicle, driving under the influence of drugs and or alcohol, second-degree reckless endangerment, third-degree assault and unsafe backing.

In October 2017, officers found Deborah Sheak, 59, unconscious and pinned underneath a running Nissan Altima at 14 Bradley St., according to a police report.  She was airlifted to Hartford Hospital and was pronounced dead hours later. Another woman struck by the car suffered minor injuries to her legs.

Police identified Cusick as the driver. Officers noticed Cusick had an odor of alcohol on her breath and she failed field sobriety tests. She later gave a breath alcohol test that showed a blood alcohol level of .17.
