PLAINVILLE — A local man faces charges after police said he struck and severely injured another man at a local bar in December.

Anthony Sidoti, 24, of 36 Whiting St., was charged Monday with first-degree assault, first-degree reckless endangerment and second-degree breach of peace.

On Dec. 28 around 11:40 p.m police responded to Zen Bar, 317 Farmington Ave. A man told police he was at the bar, called over by a group of men, and attacked while speaking with them, accordingto Sidoti’s arrest warrant. The injured man had a significant amount of blood covering his face, neck and t-shirt and suffered a broken nose, a broken rib, had two teeth knocked out and needed eight staples to close a laceration to his head.

Police met with a confidential informant who identified the main attacker as Sidoti, the warrant said. Police also obtained security video that showed Sidoti initiated the attack and was joined by others,

Sidoti was arraigned in Bristol Superior Court on Monday. Bond was set at $15,000 and he is due back in court on March 1.
