Plainville police: Marine assaulted fellow Marine at reserve base

PLAINVILLE — A Wallingford man and Marine faces charges after police said he assaulted a fellow Marine at the town’s reserve base earlier this month.

Titus Pannell, 32, of 30 N. Cherry St., was charged Dec. 9 with second-degree assault, second-degree strangulation, first-degree unlawful restraint, first-degree reckless endangerment and second-degree breach of peace.

Police responded to the Naval Reserve Base, 1 Linsley Ave., on Dec. 9 around 3 p.m. for a report of an assault. A Marine told officers he was in a locker room when Pannell entered and grabbed him from behind in a choke hold, according to a police report. The Marine said he lost consciousness during the incident.

Pannell was taken into custody, released on $5,000 bond, and is scheduled to appear in Bristol Superior Court on Dec. 24.
