Plainville police: Second person charged with theft from apartment complex office

PLAINVILLE — A local man faces charges after police said he was involved in the theft of a forced air electric heater from a property manager’s office in January.

Christopher Herrick, 37, of 2 Whiting St., was charged Monday with third-degree burglary, fifth-degree larceny and conspiracy. His initial bond was set at $20,000.

Michelle Dufour, 36, of 2 Whiting St., was previously arrested in connection with the same incident and charged with third-degree burglary, fifth-degree larceny and conspiracy.

On Jan. 11, the property manager at Central Place apartments, 22 Whiting St., reported a Dewalt forced air electric heater valued at $880 was stolen from her office.

Security video showed Dufour, looking around the office on Jan. 8 around 1 a.m., the report said. Dufour leaves and returns with Herrick about 10 minutes later. Dufour and Herrick then take the heater and place it in the trunk of a car, the report said.
