The courtyard at Linden Street School shines a little brighter thanks to the support, talent and generosity of Gary Fett, owner of Fluid Control Solutions, a Plainville manufacturer.
Last year, as the school district began working to expand partnerships with local businesses and community organizations, Career Center Coordinator Sue Bradley and Director of Community Relations Lynn Davis met with Fett to discuss potential internship opportunities for high school students in the field of manufacturing.
During that meeting, conversation ensued about other district needs and projects, including Linden Street School Principal Paula Eshoo’s goal to someday build an eco-friendly greenhouse made from recycled materials in the school’s courtyard area.
Fett designed and created the greenhouse, which features the use of recycled 2-liter bottles that were collected and donated by Linden faculty, staff, students and community members.
The project was completed in early October, and a ribbon cutting ceremony was held to officially unveil the greenhouse structure on Oct. 30.
