‘Souper,’ selfless students come through for food pantry

The Louis Toffolon Elementary School community participated in its second annual Souper Bowl Jan. 30 to Feb. 2. Participants brought in a canned good or paper product to vote for the team that they thought would win the Super Bowl.

Students, families and staff donated approximately 700 hundred items for the Plainville Community Food Pantry.

The Middle School of Plainville Student Council also conducted a food drive for the pantry, with a competition between grades. Student Council representatives in each grade came up with something that Principal Matthew Guarino would have to do if their grade donated the most items.

Grade 6 won the competition, and Guarino agreed to dye his hair a variety of colors, braid it, and jump into snow, or the middle school pond, in his bathing suit.

MSP donated $129 and 911 pounds of food.
