SOUTHINGTON — A Bristol man faces charges after police said he tried to steal items from Target and assaulted an employee while attempting to flee the scene.
Jose Rodriguez, 30, of 365 East Road, Bristol was charged July 4 with sixth-degree larceny, third-degree robbery and third-degree assault. He was released on $10,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in Bristol Superior Court on July 16.
Lt. Stephen Elliott said Rodriguez reportedly attempted to steal sockets, medical supplies and other merchandise from Target, 600 Executive Blvd. While leaving the store, he was confronted by an employee, who police say Rodriguez assaulted. The employee suffered a minor arm injury.
Rodriguez was attempting to drive off on a motorcycle when police arrived and took him into custody, Elliott said.
