SOUTHINGTON — Interstate 84 between exits 28 and 30 reopened after a multi-vehicle crash this afternoon.
The crash was reported around 1:48 p.m. Just after 2 p.m. the highway was reported to be closed in the area. Southington Fire Department tweeted that a total of five cars and a tractor trailer were involved in the incident. Three people were taken to the hospital for treatment and three people refused medical treatment, Southington Fire Department stated.
Police extricated at least one person from a car. It took firefighters 16 minutes to remove the person. The fire department tweeted a photo of the car showing that its roof and doors were removed while there was heavy damage to the rear and passenger side.
Mutual aid responded from Plainville and Cheshire during the incident. As of 4 p.m. the highway was reopened.
