SOUTHINGTON — A Massachusetts man has been charged after police say he used an online dating site to meet with a “minor” that was really an adult member of an organization that targets sexual predators.

Carl Bezo, 50, of Westfield, Massachusetts, was charged with criminal attempt to commit risk of injury to a minor. His bond was set at $100,000.

Lt. Stephen Elliott said Bezo communicated with and attempted to meet with what he thought was a minor at a local store. He was not aware the minor was an adult from the organization known as POPsquad.

When Bezo arrived at the store, he was met by the POPsquad adult and their interaction was recorded on video, Elliott said. Police also obtained chat logs.
