SOUTHINGTON – Police charged a New Haven man with breaking into a Meriden-Waterbury Road gas station last year and stealing more than $3,000 worth of cigarettes.
James Jones, 52, of New Haven, was charged this week with third-degree burglary, third-degree larceny and first-degree criminal mischief.
Police said Jones used a cinder block to break into the Gulf Gas Station and Convenience Store last August. A total of 34 cartons of cigarettes were taken.
Jones was already in prison when Southington police charged him.
