Police: Middletown man stole $2,900 tool from Southington construction company

SOUTHINGTON — A Middletown man faces charges after police said he stole a tool valued at $2,900 from a local construction company in March.

Paul Didato, 27, of 500 Washington St., Middletown, was charged May 20 with third-degree larceny.

The arrest stems from the theft of a laser measuring device reported by River Valley Construction where Didato was employed at the time, said Lt. Stephen Elliott, police spokesman, said. The device was missing from a company vehicle Didato was driving. It was valued at $2,900 and was later found at a pawn shop in Cromwell, Elliott said.

Didato was arraigned in Bristol Superior Court on Monday. The judge set bond at $10,000 and continued the case to June 20.
