Police: Southington man assaulted woman

SOUTHINGTON — A local man faces charges after police said he choked and sexually assaulted a woman last month.

Ryan McCormack, 37, of 50 Cardinal Dr., Southington, was arrested on Thursday and charged with sexual assault, second-degree strangulation, third-degree assault, and disorderly conduct. He was initially held on $500,000 bond and was arraigned in Bristol Superior Court on Monday. The judge lowered bond to $100,000. 

On Oct. 10 police responded to Bradley Memorial Hospital for a report of a woman that was assaulted, according to the arrest warrant. The woman told police McCormack assaulted her on Oct. 7 and she had injuries to her face, neck and right arm, the warrant said.

Police applied for a warrant and it was approved by a judge on Nov. 6. McCormack posted bond and is scheduled back in court on Dec. 7.
