Southington woman charged with assaulting employer

SOUTHINGTON — A local woman faces charges after police said she assaulted her employer.

Amy Florian, 38, of 30 Speechley Ave., was charged July 10 with evading responsibility, using a motor vehicle without permission, third-degree assault, second-degree breach of peace, and first-degree reckless endangerment.

Police responded to a home on Crest Road on July 10 for a report of a dispute between Florian and her employer, according to police spokesman Lt. Stephen Elliott. During the dispute, Florian knocked the woman to the ground, took her car keys and attempted to drive off.

The employer, who tried to stop Florian, was dragged by the car and suffered scrapes to her knees, elbows and hands. She  was taken to a local medical center for treatment, Elliott said.

Florian posted $15,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in Bristol Superior Court on July 23.
