Southington man charged with criminal possession of a firearm

SOUTHINGTON — A local man has been charged after police said they found him in illegal possession of a firearm last month.

Andrew Lee, 31, of 1644 Meriden Ave., was charged with criminal possession of a firearm. He was released on $5,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in Bristol Superior Court on Monday.

On Nov. 28, police found Lee in possession of a handgun he reportedly built with a friend, Sgt. Jeffrey Dobratz said. The firearm was built to resemble a .40 caliber handgun.

Lee is prohibited from possessing firearms due to an active protective order stemming from a prior domestic violence offense.
