SOUTHINGTON — A Plantsville man was charged after police say he fraudulently entered almost 200 raffle tickets to win prizes at a parent-teacher organization event. The man also reportedly stole a third prize.

Alexander Stewart, 35, of 624 Mulberry St., was charged with third-degree forgery and three counts of sixth-degree larceny. He was released on $1,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in Bristol Superior Court on Jan. 25.

While attending a PTO event, Alexander allegedly entered 180 raffle tickets he did not purchase into containers and won two prizes, Lt. Stephen Elliot said in a statement. Video surveillance also showed Stewart leaving with a third prize he did not win.
