Southington police: Man hit, injured person who was holding 8-month-old



 

SOUTHINGTON — A local man faces charges after police said he hit and injured a person who was holding an 8-month-old.

John McGill, 40, was charged Monday with risk of injury to a minor, second-degree breach of peace, third-degree criminal mischief and disorderly conduct. His bond was set at $20,000.

Lt. Stephen Elliott said the incident occurred at Motel 6, 625 Queen St. McGill reportedly grabbed, shook and hit a person who was holding an 8-month-old. The person suffered a minor injury. The child was not injured.

McGill also reportedly damaged a lamp and shower rod in a hotel room.
