Rosa DeLauro's Stance: The biggest economic challenge is that working families are in jobs that do not pay them enough to live on. That is why job training investments and worker protections are top priority as the lead Democrat on the committee that funds the Department of Labor. I believe in robust infrastructure investment and innovative financing solutions which also creates jobs that cannot be outsourced. I support a level playing field for fair trade and eliminating incentives that encourage companies to outsource American jobs. We also need to ensure workers are supported with equal pay, paid sick days and paid family leave.

Rosa DeLauro's Stance: Now is the time to increase our commitment to America’s public schools, not diminish it. I do not support the creation of a private system that excludes some children and benefits others. We know how the Trump-DeVos Department of Education thinks of education not as a public good but as a for-profit industry. As the top Democrat on the Labor, Health and Human Services, and Education Appropriations Subcommittee, I am committed to ensure that our public school system has the resources it needs in order to keep class sizes manageable, improve teacher training and development, provide for after-school programs and student loan forgiveness.

Rosa DeLauro's Stance: I am committed to ensuring that we do not balance the budget at the expense of America’s most vulnerable, including working families, children and seniors. I continue to fight to ensure that we are making smart investments in our future and that our budget reflects our values. I support a more just tax code that ends tax cuts for the wealthiest Americans and maintains and expands critical tax relief for working families. It is critical we eliminate the outsourcing incentives from our tax current policy so that corporations keep jobs in the United States.

Rosa DeLauro's Stance: I believe the policies of the Trump Administration are not making us safer or strengthening our standing in the world. I am very concerned attempts to hollow out the State Department, hampering out diplomatic missions abroad while limiting U.S. development aid to other countries. Trump’s decision to withdraw from the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) or “Iran Deal” imperils our national security by making future accords toward peace more difficult to secure. The arranged summit between the president and North Korea’s Kim Jong Un was more spectacle than substance. We are not any nearer to denuclearization than before the summit.
Rosa DeLauro's Stance: I support a comprehensive solution to our immigration system. Our governing authorities must implement just and compassionate immigration reform on the local and federal level and prioritize keeping families together.
Rosa DeLauro's Stance: Since coming to Congress, protecting our environment, particularly the Long Island Sound, has been one of my top priorities. We need immediate action to confront the reality of climate change. It is the biggest environmental and ecological challenge we will face over the next century. Rising global temperatures are already causing the melting of glaciers and sea ice, resulting in rising sea levels and more severe and extreme weather events, including flooding and droughts, reduced crop yields, shortages of drinking water and other negative ecological consequences. The time to act on climate change is now.
