HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) — Authorities say one of the four Connecticut prison inmates who overdosed on fentanyl last week has died.
The state Department of Corrections announced the death on Tuesday. No names were released.
Three of the inmates being housed at the Hartford Correctional Center were treated at a hospital and returned to the prison on Friday.
A prisons spokesman says the fourth, who was in cardiac arrest when firefighters and paramedics at the facility, died Saturday. Three of the prisoners were administered the opioid overdose reversal drug Narcan.
Prisons officials and state police are investigating how the powerful opioid was smuggled into the prison.
