WATERBURY, Conn. (AP) — A teacher at a Connecticut high school has been placed on leave after being charged with having inappropriate contact with a student.
Police say 49-year-old Jeffrey Lucian, a teacher at Kennedy High School in Waterbury, was charged last week with fourth-degree sexual assault.
Lucian is free on $10,000 bond pending arraignment scheduled for May 1.
A school administrator alerted police to possible “suspicious behavior” between the teacher and a 16-year-old student.
Waterbury schools Superintendent Verna Ruffin says the teacher has been placed on paid administrative leave pending the investigation.
Lucian’s case was not listed in online court records and it’s unclear if he has a lawyer.
