NORTH HAVEN — A local man faces charges after police said he crashed a stolen car and fled.

Marcus Pires, 46, of North Haven, was charged Wednesday with evading responsibility, third-degree larceny, two counts of violation of probation, failure to appear and motor vehicle charges.

A Lexus that Pires was reportedly driving collided with a utility pole on Kings Highway around 3:10 p.m., according to police. Pires fled on foot and was taken into custody on Highland Park Road.

Police learned the Lexus was reported stolen and that Pires had pending warrants charging him with violation of probation and failing to appear in court. His bond was set at $27,000.
