Ronald Przybylo, 57, of 93 Saint John St., was charged Tuesday with second-degree breach of peace and seven counts of animal cruelty. He was initially held on $10,000 bond. Maryellen Przybylo was also charged with seven counts of animal cruelty and released on $2,500 bond. She is scheduled to appear in Meriden Superior Court on Nov. 9, 2017.

North Haven police received an anonymous tip about “alarming statements made by a Saint John Street man on his Facebook account,” Captain Kevin Glenn said. Police found disturbing posts and videos that led them to believe the man, identified as Przybylo, was possibly dangerous, Glenn said.

Police noted Przybylo posted comments implying he planned to provide candy laced with rat poison to trick-or-treaters, according to Glenn. Przybylo also mentioned several mass killings around the country and “dubbed himself the Halloween Lunatic,” Glenn said.

Police went to Przybylo’s home and found the floors and furniture covered in animal urine and feces. Animal control officers and the Quinnipiac Valley Health Department responded and removed three dogs, three cats and an Amazon African bird from the home as a health precaution, Glenn said.
