PLAINVILLE — A local woman has been charged after police said she stole a car that was loaned to her.

Michelle Sweezey, 46, of 20 Pearl St., was charged Wednesday with second-degree larceny.

On Sept. 10, a man reported that he let Sweezey borrow his car a week earlier and that it had not been returned, according to Sweezey’s arrest warrant.

Sweezey told police she returned the car on Sept. 6, and that a mutual friend might have the car, the warrant said.

Police later charged Tyrese Maleek Brown, of New Haven, with being in possession of the vehicle, the warrant said. The 2015 Nissan Sentra was valued at about $12,500.

Sweezey’s bond was set at $5,000.
