This weekend features pre-Daffodil Festival events at Hubbard Park, including a tag sale and road race, the annual Record Store Day at Redscroll in Wallingford and various Earth Day activities for both kids and adults.

MERIDEN 

Daffodil Festival Tag Sale

When: 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday 

Where: Hubbard Park, 979 W. Main St. 

Description: Come by and sell your old furniture, collectibles, or any other tag sale items or come to browse and buy. This event is rain or shine and will be under the Festival Tent. Refreshments will be available for purchase and the amusement rides will be open depending on the weather.

The Meriden Rotary 5k Road Race

When: 10 a.m., Sunday 

Where: Hubbard Park, 979 W. Main St. 

Description: This road race and “kids fun run and walk” is part of the Hubbard Park Charity Race Series and proceeds go to all of the community causes the Meriden Rotary Club supports.

Destination Yoga at Hubbard Park

When: 9:30-10:30 a.m., Saturday

Where: Hubbard Park, 979 W. Main St. 

Description: Destination Yoga will be hosting an hour Vinyasa flow yoga class for all skill levels. The class is $20 or whatever donation can be made. All proceeds will go toward a service trip to Haiti through Partners in Development, Inc.

Concerts with Causes: Number Nine

When: 6 p.m., Saturday

Where: Augusta Curtis Cultural Center, 175 E. Main St. 

Description: The band “Number Nine” will pay tribute to the Beatles, refreshments will be available by Rich Craving Catering and beverages by New England Cider Co. and the Southern Connecticut Wine Co. Tickets are $10 per person.

WALLINGFORD

Spring Source to Sound River Cleanup

When: 9 a.m. to noon, Saturday

Where: Westbrook Lobster parking lot, 300 Church St. 

Description: The Quinnipiac River Watershed Association will host its annual river clean-up. The association will provide trash bags, gloves and light refreshments. Anyone interested in volunteering should contact qrivercleanup@att.net.

Project Graduation Spring Craft & Vendor Fair

When: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Sunday

Where: Wallingford Parks & Recreation, 6 Fairfield Blvd.

Description: The Wallingford Project Graduation will host a craft and vendor fair to support their commitment to providing high school seniors a safe, fun and substance-free graduation celebration.

Record Store Day at Redscroll

When: 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., Saturday

Where: 24 N. Colony St. 

Description: Redscroll will be participating in Record Store Day, an international gathering of independent record store owners for a day to celebrate the unique culture of each record store. There will be a special album release list.

Gucci Mane at the Oakdale

When: 8 p.m., Friday

Where: Oakdale Theatre, 95 S. Turnpike Road

Description: Gucci Mane will perform at the Oakdale Theatre. Tickets start at $45.

SOUTHINGTON

Open Space Committee Celebrating Earth Day

When: 1 p.m., Sunday

Where: Novick’s Orchard, Flanders Road

Description: The Open Space and Land Acquisition Committee will celebrate Earth Day with a hike and trail cleanup at Novick’s Orchard. Those who wish to help with the trail cleanup should bring loppers and hedge clippers. Rosie the goat from Bradley Mountain Farm will be at the event, along with other goats who will accompany hikers.

“Fill that Cruiser” Food Pantry Donations

When: 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Saturday

Where: Walmart, 235 Queen St.

Description: The Giving Back Girls are hosting a food and household items drive for Southington Community Services. They are looking for items such as cereal, jelly, pasta sauce, soap, and canned soup.

Fundraising Concert 

When: 7 p.m., Saturday

Where: First Congregational Church meetinghouse, 37 Main St. 

Description: Gishrei Shalom Jewish Congregation will host a fundraising concert featuring Penny Lane, a Beatles Tribute Band. Advance tickets are $20 through the temple office at 860-276-9113 or $25 at the door.

CHESHIRE

Earth Day Workshop at Cheshire Nursery 

When: 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., Sunday

Where: Cheshire Nursery Garden Center and Florist, 1317 S. Main St. 

Description: The nursery garden center will provide a small pot, dirt and flower seeds to kids in a free eco-friendly workshop. There will also be demonstrations for home composting ideas.

Walk MS

When: 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., Sunday

Where: Cheshire High School, 525 S. Main St. 

Description: Join other community members in a walk to raise money and support in the fight to end multiple sclerosis.

Buddy & Beyond

When: 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m., Friday and 8 p.m., Saturday

Where: Nelson Hall at Elim Park, 150 Cook Hill Rd. 

Description: Johnny Rogers will take the audience on a tribute of the music of the legends of rock n’ roll, beginning with Buddy Holly and leading to Jerry Lee Lewis and more. Tickets start at $12.
