Holiday celebrations continue this weekend with more opportunities to meet Santa, buy local crafts and see artists perform holiday musicals.

Christmas at the Andrews Homestead

When: 3-8 p.m., Saturday and Sunday

Where: Andrews Homestead, 424 West Main St.

Description: The Andrews Homestead is decorated for the holidays with a Christmas tree, stockings and toys under the tree. Admission is free.

Disaster Relief Fundraiser

When: 5:30-10 p.m., Friday

Where: Francis T. Maloney High School auditorium, 121 Gravel St. 

Description: The Mariachi Mexico Antigua with Marissa Cardona and the Latin Heartbeat Orchestra will perform to benefit families in need after Hurricane Maria in Puerto Rico and those relocated to Meriden, as well as those impacted by the Sept. 19 earthquake in Mexico. There will also be food, raffles and a silent auction and local artists will have work on display and available for purchase. The fundraiser is hosted by Casa Boricua, Meriden Public Schools, Mariachi Academy of New England and the Disaster Relief Committee of Meriden.

Craft and Food Holiday Fair

When: 4-8 p.m., Friday and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Saturday

Where: Unitarian Universalist Church, 328 Paddock Ave. 

Description: The fair will offer crafts, a Christmas boutique, a cookie walk, holiday ornaments, a silent auction and photos with Santa from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. (pets are welcome). Lunch will be available from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. for no extra cost. There will be live music Friday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Meriden Youth Theatre: Into the Woods

When: 7 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, 2 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday 

Where: Meriden Youth Theatre, 14-16 West Main St. 

Description: Four different casts will perform "Into the Woods," a 75 minute one act performance. Admission is $12 for adults online, $15 at the door and $8 for youth online and $10 at the door.

Fundraiser Party for Sophia

When: 3-6 p.m., Saturday

Where: St. John Lutheran Preschool, 520 Paddock Ave. 

Description: The event will be a potluck supper with a basket raffle. Attendees are encouraged to bring a main course, appetizer or dessert for dinner or a pre-made basket or items to be used to make baskets for the raffles. Proceeds will benefit Sophia Elyssa Chiappalone, a five-year-old Meriden girl born with half a heart.

Yalesville United Methodist Church Vendor Fair

When: 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday

Where: The corner of Route 68 and New Place Street, in Yalesville

Description: The church will host a fair of local crafters and vendors. A baked potato bar, apple crisp and beverages will be available for a $5 luncheon special.


Etsy Artisan Holiday Bazaar

When: 9:30-3:30 p.m., Saturday

Where: Wallingford Public Library, 200 North Main St. 

Description: A group of local artists and entrepreneurs will offer a variety of handmade products, including jewelry, pottery, wood work, soaps, jams, pet treats and art. The group hosting this first annual holiday bazaar is made up of students in the library's Etsy Craft Entrepreneurship Workshop, a series that helped artists and crafters build their skills to run an online business.

Noche de Música: The Villalobos Brothers

When: 7:30-9:30 p.m., Friday 

Where: Paul Mellon Arts Center, 322 Christian St. 

Description: The Spanish Community of Wallingford (SCOW) will host the Villalobos Brothers, a Mexican ensemble to celebrate the organization's 45th anniversary. Admission is $20 for adults and $15 for seniors and students, benefiting SCOW. Parking is free. Tickets can be bought through the box office at (203) 697-2398 or online at

Ulbrich Boys & Girls Club's Annual Breakfast with Santa

When: 8:30-11 a.m., Saturday

Where: Ulbrich Boys & Girls Club, 72 Grand St. 

Description: Breakfast will include a buffet of pancakes, eggs, sausage, bacon and beverages. Families can take photos with Santa, take home one toy for every child and decorate ornaments. Admission is $5 per person or $20 per family and proceeds will benefit the boys & girls club. The event's snow date is Dec. 16.

Scuba Santa

When: 1-3 p.m., Sunday

Where: Wallingford Family YMCA, East Side Branch, 81 South Elm St. 

Description: Kids can swim in the pool with Santa and help decorate his underwater Christmas tree. After swimming, the YMCA will offer hot chocolate, cookies, crafts and indoor "snowball" fights. Admission is free with a donation of a non-perishable food item or a new toy. Register by calling (203) 269-4497.

Elm City Girls' Choir

When: 7:30-8:45 p.m., Friday

Where: St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 65 North Main St. 

Description: The Elm City Girls' Choir will perform its annual Holiday Classics Concert with a guest appearance by Saecula Women's Choir. Tickets are available in advance for a suggested donation of $12 for adults and $8 for students and seniors or at the door for a suggested $15 for adults and $10 for students and seniors.

Hour of Code

When: 3:30-4:30 p.m., Friday

Where: Wallingford Public Library, 200 North Main St. 

Description: Middle school and high school students are invited to learn computer science and computer programming, in a global movement event. More than 180 countries will take part in the event that allows students to "hang out, mess around, and geek out." The library will provide laptops and other technology, but students can bring their own devices. Participants will receive a personalized certificate of completion.

Holiday Cookie & Bake Sale

When: 12-5 p.m., Sunday

Where: Jake's Tavern, 179 Center St. 

Description: This 5th annual bake sale will benefit Wallingford's Holiday for Giving. The sale will feature Christmas cookies, new Candyland, a visit with Santa and raffle prizes. The tavern will also offer holiday drink specials. For more information or to volunteer to bake, contact 



Santa at Camp Sloper

When: 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Saturday

Where: YMCA Camp Sloper Outdoor Center, 1000 East St. 

Description: Visit with Santa, take a horse-drawn carriage ride, make crafts and more at Camp Sloper.

Breakfast with Santa

When: 7:30-10:30 a.m., Sunday

Where: Southington Fire Dept., Engine Company #5, 72 River St. 

Description: Come for an all-you-can-eat pancake breakfast with Santa. Breakfast is $7 for adults, $5 for seniors and kids under five-years-old are free. Santa will be available for photos.

Southington Community Theatre: "The Best Christmas Pageant Ever" 

When: 7:30 p.m., Friday and Saturday and 2 p.m., Sunday

Where: Grace United Methodist Church, 121 Pleasant St. 

Description: The Southington Community Theatre presents a "hilariously heartwarming play" about the holidays. Admission is $15 for adults and $10 for children and seniors in advance and $20 for adults and $15 for children and seniors at the door.

The Nutcracker

When: 2-3 p.m., Sunday

Where: Cheshire Public Library, 104 Main St. 

Description: The Brass City Ballet will present a live, narrated performance of The Nutcracker. The library asks that you pre-register on its website.

When: 9:45 a.m. to 12 p.m., Saturday

Where: Cheshire Community YMCA, 961 S Main St. 

Description: This Zumbathon fundraiser will benefit adult cancer survivors in the LIVESTRONG at the YMCA program. Anyone is encouraged to dance in the event for a suggested donation of $25.

Fire Department Fill a Fire Truck 

When: 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday

Where: Cheshire Volunteer Fire Dept., 250 Maple Ave.

Description: The fire department will hold their annual Fill a Fire Truck with an appearance from Santa.

Gingerbread House Workshop 

When: 1:30-4 p.m., Sunday

Where: Cheshire Historical Society, 43 Church Dr. 

Description: Participants are asked to bring their own candy to decorate their own houses and share with others in this hands-on workshop. The event is free to the public.
