Our fifth-grade Girl Scout Troop 62092 earned our Bronze Award this spring by supporting the Durham-Middlefield Giving Garden. We built raised garden beds and planted vegetables, including tomatoes, peppers and herbs. NatureWorks Organic Garden Center and Geremia Farms generously donated plants to our project. We are very grateful to them and to the Giving Garden committee who helped us throughout the process of earning our Bronze Award.
We felt this project was important because it gives more access to fresh fruits and vegetables to people who have limited resources.
As Girl Scouts, it's important to give service to our community and by doing this project and others we hope to build a strong and caring local community.
